Q: What should I be looking for in a breeder?
A: ~ Someone whom only raises 1 breed of dog
~ A breeder that will show pictures and descriptions of parent dogs (Sires and Dams)
~ A breeder that will give you updated pictures of pups as they grow
~ A breeder with reasonable prices and policies
~ A breeder who will list as much information as space will allow
~ A breeder with complete contact information
Q: Where are you located?
A: We are located 60 minutes west of the Twin Cities, 1 mile south of HWY 7 in Lester Prairie, Minnesota. We ask that you call to set up an appointment to come and see us – reason being, we are always doing chores, playing, exercising the beagles, and talking with clients that have appointments.
Q: Would a beagle make a great indoor pet?
A: YES! Beagles make great indoor pets as long as you give them plenty of regular exercise, as you should for any dog or pet. It is best that you have a fenced backyard for your beagle to play – if not, make sure you are willing to leash walk your beagle for exercise.
Q: Are beagles good with children and other pets?
A: YES! Beagles respond well to children and other pets. They are friendly, loving, and loyal. Remember adding a puppy to the family is like adding another child. Be sure all members of the family are ready for the responsibility of a new puppy.
Q: What colors and sizes of beagles do you have?
A: Beagles are like a gumball machine – you never know what you’re going to get. However, with selective breeding and great pedigrees, you can get a pretty good estimate. Our sizes range from 11 1/2″ – 14″ and our colors range from tri-color, red & white, lemon & white, blue & tan, and brown. Please go to AKC.org or UKCDogs.com for more information on beagles.
Q: How do I reserve a beagle puppy from Woodland Beagles?
A: All available puppies are listed on our Puppies page. I will start taking non-refundable deposits when there is an up-coming litter expected. We will then contact each other via email to get the pup of your choice – first come, first serve. We reserve as 1st pick male or female, 2nd pick male or female and so forth.
A NON-REFUNDABLE $100.00 deposit will need to be sent to hold the puppy of your choice. If said litter does not produce the sex or coloring of your choice, your deposit will be shifted onto the next litter – in the same picking position OR BETTER!
The rest will be due IN CASH (no checks) at pick up. Puppies are 8 weeks old or older before they are ready to go home.
Q: Can you send a beagle puppy to me?
A: No, we do not ship our puppies. We prefer that you personally come to our kennel to pick up your new pup. It’s a great way to see the facility and see the parents and to really get a good look at where your beagle puppy comes from.
Q: How much do your beagle puppies cost?
A: Typically our puppies range from $900.00 – $1,500.00. Depending on colors, markings and registration (limited registration because we always ask that you be a responsible dog owner and spay and/or neuter your beagle pup).
We are committed to our breeding program – therefore, the cost of selective breeding is a little higher. While you can find a beagle pup for much less from your “backyard breeder”, you will find spending a little more, in the beginning, will save you a lot more in the end. HEALTH is our biggest concern and it is what we strive for.
